  1. Qd4 might just work, but isn't worth the bother when 1. h7+ is at least as good.

The game goes: 1. Qd4 Qxh6 (forced, or mate comes fast) 2. Rgxg3 Qh1+ 3. Kb2 Qh2.

Now white can live dangerously with 4. Rxe3!? Rxc2+ 5. Ka3 Rxa1+ 6. Kb4 a5+ 7. Kxb5 Qf1+ 8. Qd3 and the attack shouldn't last long and white is a R+N up.

But, why give Black the attack when h7+ closes things out nicely?

  1. h7+ seems to work

1...Q:h7 2. Rg:g3 wins a piece

1...K:h7 2. R:f7+ Kg8 3. Be6 Kh8 4. Qd4+ Re5 5. Q:c3 wins a Rook

1...K:h7 2. R:f7+ Kh6 3. Qd4 threatens the devastating Qf4+ so Black must reply 3...Re4 allowing 4. 4. Qh8+ Kg5 5. Q:c3 and 5...R:g4 runs into 6. Qe3+ and Black must lose even more material.

1...Kg7 or Kg8 2. Qd4+ wins a Rook

1...Kf8 2. Qd4 threatens to promote the pawn and either wins a Rook or wins the Queen for a Rook
