White to move. How should white proceed?
Illyrialady, it is black to move
Editor
Illyrialady, You have to remove the space between the number and the period- otherwise the comment subroutine treats them as bullet points to paragraphs and returns to 1 after each.
Webmaster, will you PLEASE fix the problem with your routine that is setting my moves numbers back to 1???????? PLEASE!!!!
Yancey, there are some really pretty mates if, after
(3. .. Rxf5 4. Nxe7+ Kf6 5. Qxf5+ Kxe7 6. Qxe5+ Kf8 7. Rxh7)
(4. .. Rff8 5. Qf5+ Kg7 6. Nh5+ Kh6 7. Nf6+ Kg7 8. Rxh7#)
(4. .. Kg7 5. Nh5+ Kh6 6. Nf6+ Kg7 7. Rxh7+ Kxf6 8. Qf5#)
But, yeah, over the board in a game, 3. Nxe7+ is the sure thing.
Arein, it appears to me that black must play 1. ....Qe4, unless you mean for white to move first.
Can anyone solve it:r1n1qrk1/1p3pb1/p1pp4/3P2BQ/4P3/2P4R/PP4PP/5R1K b - - 0 29
The alternative line, and the one I actually looked at first is 1.Ng6, but I just can't make that work. After 1.Ng6 fg6 2.Qg6 Rf1 3.Nf1 Nf6, black is up a knight for two pawns, and the white's attack looks to be kaput.
The latent pin on the h-pawn led me to the right move, or at least a winning move in case I didn't find the best start. White can play 1.Rf7 threatening the queen and 2.Ng6+. Black cannot play 1. ...Rf7 since 2.Ng6 wins the queen for a rook minimum since 3.Nxe7 is discovered check. Black probably does best to play 1.Rf7 Qf7 2.Ng6 Qg6 3.Qg6 limiting the damage.
