White to move! How should white proceed? Write out the plan please and not just a 1-2 move response. It is important that you understand this endgame.

I spent a good part of this morning studying this ending. What a technically beautiful one it is, and a great credit to Ms. Wenjun Ju for working it out over the board. I am not going to write a solution- you would do well to just go Chessbomb and work through the methods of the two players. Both seemed to play the best moves from the above position.

Start with Kf4. Eventually play f3 and g4. If black takes on g4, then white gets an outside passed pawn (h file) and that should be winning. If black does not take, then white will take on h5. White can now place the king o f5 and eventually win the h5 pawn. If black tries to defend the h5 pawn, then the c5 pawn will fall.
