Shamkir Chess 2019 is a 10-player round-robin in memorial of Vugar Gashimov. The super strong tournament in Shamkir, Azerbaijan is taking place from 30 March to 9 April 2019 and features World Champion Magnus Carlsen and nine of the 2700+ players. In case of a tie for first place, a rapid playoff will be played.

Time control: 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30 seconds per move increment from move 61.
