CHENNAI: The 43rd edition of chess Olympiad, to be held in Batumi (Georgia) from September 23 to October 7 this year, may be a few months away, but the Indian contingent has already begun its preparations.

India - which is yet to name the final team - started with its first training camp in New Delhi from Friday. The camp, which is scheduled to take place until March 23, saw multiple-time World champion Viswanathan Anand being part of it along with fellow Grandmasters Surya Shekhar Ganguly, SP Sethuraman, Vidit Gujrathi, P Harikrishna, K Sasikiran and B Adhiban. RB Ramesh is the captain of the team.

Anand said the camp was to create specific team scenarios. "We are looking at general preparations. At this point it's very difficult to be very specific," Anand told TOI.
