A farewell National Championship for the Captain

Robson was the youngest Grandmaster in the US, breaking the record of Hikaru Nakamura.

In 4 weeks, it will be the last Final Four for Webster University Team Captain GM Ray Robson. He was the first official recruit of the brand new Webster University SPICE program which started in August 2012.

In April 2017, he became the first player ever to be a part of a team which won 5 straight Final Four Chess Championships!

In December 2017, he became the first player ever to be a part of a team which won 6 straight PanAm InterCollegiate Chess Championships!

Since joining Webster University, Ray got his rating from 2599 FIDE to a high of 2680, while finishing 2nd at the 2014 Millionaire Chess, 2015 US Championship, and winning Gold at the 2016 Chess Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan. These are just a few of his incredible success.

He is the most well-liked team member and someone his teammates can always count on!

BTW, Ray was also on the Webster University Tennis Team as one of the starters! He also improved his tennis tremendously in past years.
