Season 8 of Diablo 4 will be shorter than previous ones, as Blizzard developers have already confirmed. While an official end date has not been publicly announced, new in-game information offers a clear clue as to when the current season will wrap up.
According to a recent discovery by the team at Icy Veins, a countdown timer within the game suggests the season may conclude on June 30, 2025. Players who unlock the free “Belial’s Rebirth” reliquary in the Season 8 Battle Pass can see a notice stating that the item will be available for another 35 days, as of May 27, 2025. This strongly points to a season end on the last day of June.
Shorter Season, But Normal Schedule Returns in Season 9
Blizzard previously acknowledged that Season 8 would be shorter than usual, though the reason behind this decision remains unclear. While some speculate that it may relate to criticism surrounding the Battle Pass, there’s no official confirmation linking the two.
More importantly for players, the shortened season is not a long-term shift. Blizzard’s Community Director, Adam Fletcher, has already assured fans that Season 9 will mark a return to the game’s regular seasonal rhythm. Based on past release patterns, Season 9 is expected to launch immediately after the current one ends, with a likely start date of July 1, 2025.
This aligns with previous developer statements indicating the next season would begin sometime in July.
What Does the Community Think?
As the Diablo community digests this update, reactions are beginning to emerge. Some players welcome a quicker turnaround in seasonal content, while others are curious if the abbreviated format is a one-time change or the beginning of a new trend.
Blizzard, for its part, appears committed to course-correcting in Season 9. Until then, players can expect the remaining weeks of Season 8 to move quickly—so anyone still working through content or the Battle Pass may want to step up their efforts before the June 30 deadline.
